01About these terms

These terms apply to anyone who applies to join, or serves on, the judging panel of South England Awards. South England Awards is a trading style of B2B Growth Hub Limited. By submitting a judge application you confirm that you have read and accept them.

02Applying to judge

Applying does not guarantee a place on the panel. We select judges for the balance of sector knowledge, seniority and independence the categories need, and we may decline an application without giving reasons. A place on the panel is for the current awards cycle and does not carry over automatically.

03Independence and conflicts of interest

Judges must declare any relationship that could reasonably be seen to affect their objectivity, including:

• Employment, directorship or shareholding in an entrant
• A commercial, advisory or family relationship with an entrant
• Any involvement in preparing or advising on an entry
• Any other interest that could be perceived as a conflict

04How scoring works

Entries are scored against published criteria. Judges score independently, on the evidence in the entry, and do not discuss scores with entrants. Where a conflict has been declared, that judge is excluded from the category concerned. Decisions of the panel are final and we do not enter into individual correspondence about scores or outcomes.

05Confidentiality

Entries are commercially sensitive. Judges agree to keep everything they see confidential, to use it only for judging, not to copy or retain it after the cycle ends, and not to disclose shortlists or results before they are announced publicly.

06What judging involves

Judging is a voluntary, unpaid role. Judges are asked to score their assigned entries within the published judging window and to tell us promptly if they can no longer take part, so entries can be reassigned. Travel and attendance at the ceremony are at the judge’s own expense unless we say otherwise in writing.

07Your name, photograph and profile

Judges appear publicly on the panel. By accepting a place you agree that we may publish your name, job title, organisation, photograph and the profile summary you provide on the South England Awards website and in related materials, for the purpose of promoting the awards and demonstrating the independence of the judging process. Tell us in writing if you want your profile removed and we will do so.

08Your personal data

The details in your application are used to assess it, to administer judging and to contact you about the awards. They are handled in line with our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to correct or delete them at any time.

09Ending the arrangement

A judge may withdraw at any time by telling us in writing. We may also end a judge’s involvement — including removing a profile from the site — where a conflict of interest is not declared, where confidentiality is broken, or where the impartiality of the awards would otherwise be in doubt.

10Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
